Festival Structure

We are very excited to be presenting the first annual CINEMA LATINO, a festival of films representing the rich and varied Latino experience both here in the United States and Latin America. This festival is being produced by the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival in collaboration with Centro de la Familia, a non-profit organization in Colorado Springs.

Centro's primary mission is to strengthen families by developing cultural anchors and increasing community resources, resulting in stability and improved quality of life for Spanish-speaking, Native American and recent immigrant parents and children of Hispanic and Latino origin. The RMWFF, also a non-profit, is dedicated to celebrating the drive, spirit and diversity of women through film. To honor the missions of both organizations, this year’s festival will focus exclusively on films by and about Latina women.

The Cinema Latino Film Festival will be held at Colorado College’s Armstrong Theater on June 6-7, 2008 and will be included in its Summer Arts Festival.

Friday evening will include a reception featuring Latino cuisine and a feature film.

Saturday will be a full day of films, beginning at 10:00 am and ending at approximately 5:30 pm.

Our overall goal is to create an outstanding, affordable cultural event that will highlight the Latino community and be well-attended by a diverse audience.
